Eco committee

Welcome to the Eco schools committee.

Our Eco school team for this year are:

we meet once a term with Mrs Hutchesson.

We are very pleased that as a school we have already gained our bronze Eco schools award and we are currently working towards our silver award.

We are currently working on developing planters around the school to improve our school environment.

Eco Schools is a world-wide scheme, and is coordinated in Britain by Keep Britain Tidy .

The scheme links to many curriculum subjects, including citizenship, personal, social and health education (PSHE) and education for sustainable development.
The Eco schools process aims to involve the whole school (pupils,

teachers, non-teaching staff and governors) together with members

of the local community (parents, council, the media and local

businesses).

It encourages teamwork and helps to create a shared understanding

of what it takes to run a school in a way that respects and enhances

the environment.

Meeting 8th February 2013

Objective: to look around school to see how we can improve the gardens.

* We would like the area outside the rainbow room to be relaxing quiet areas.

* We would like seating for relaxing.

* We felt planters would be better as pots could get knocked over.

* We need to start some gardening to tidy up the leaves and nettles.

Actions:

* Send a letter/ message asking if any grown up can help with gardening.

* Research the cost of planters.

* Research gardening tools for children.

* Think about ideas for fund raising, Mrs Smith to ask governors regarding budget.
