Every day in Reception is different!  We follow the Early Years Curriculum when we plan our topics and activities, but most of our learning happens through play and exploration.  The Reception children learn how to be a good friend and the importance of following rules to keep them safe and happy.  "British Values" are reinforced through our exciting, enriched curriculum.

Holiday Time!

All the Reception staff would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and fun-filled Summer holiday!

A huge thank you to you all for your support during the last few months - it means a lot.

See you all in September!

Spring 2 2020

Our new topic is all about

We will also be celebrating Pancake Day, World Book Day, Easter and Spring.  What a busy time of year!

World Book Day

On Friday 6th March, we celebrated "World Book Day."  We came to school wearing different costumes and we brought along our favourite books to share.

We made bookmarks, miniature books, listened to stories, explored non-fiction books and played games on the IWB.

Look at our fabulous outfits - can you spot any of  your favourite characters?

Spring 1 2020

During the first few weeks of the Spring term, we will be thinking about;

We will be exploring our school grounds for signs of the season, investigating ice (and snow), listening to stories and rhymes about Winter and creating our own icy dances based on the film "Frozen."

We are really hoping it snows during January or February!

Happy Chinese New Year!!

The year of the Rat.

We have thoroughly enjoyed today;

-Dragon dancing

-Tasting Prawn Crackers ….. yummy

-Making cards and dragons

Chinese New Year, dragon dancing & tasting Prawn Crackers

On Wednesday 8th January, we had an exciting time exploring ice!  We talked about what ice is made of and what happens when it gets warm.  We touched the ice and we used some fabulous words to describe how it felt, such as, cold, freezing, wet, icy, slippery, heavy and hard.  We all looked very surprised when we touched it for the first time! Brrrrrr! Take a look at the photographs below.

On Tuesday 26th November it was our Christmas Workshop. We were amazed at how many adults came to help us and everyone had a fantastic time! We made lots of lovely pictures ready for decorating our classrooms later in the week.  A huge thank you to everyone for your help!

This week we have enjoyed completing activities around the story 'The Little Red Hen!' We made some delicious white bread and thought about how unkind the animals were.

Larkland's Bakery!

We have been thinking about Autumn this week.  We have explored the school grounds looking for different signs of Autumn, as well as doing some amazing homework about the season (take a look in our Cloakroom to see how hard we've been working)!  On Tuesday we made some tasty Autumn leaf biscuits and we have listened to lots of different stories about Autumn too.

Our Autumn Walk!
