Every day in Reception (the early years) is different! We follow the Early Years Curriculum when we plan our topics and activities, but most of our learning happens through play and exploration. We learn how to be a good friend and the importance of following rules to keep them safe and happy. "British Values" are reinforced through our exciting, enriched curriculum.
Christmas Jumper Day 2020
We were really excited to be able to wear our Christmas jumpers to school today. We looked at all the different designs and noticed that there were lots and lots of reindeers! Have a look at our fabulous photographs below.

World Book Day

We made bookmarks, miniature books, listened to stories, explored non-fiction books and played games on the IWB.
Look at our fabulous outfits - can you spot any of your favourite characters?

We are really hoping it snows during January or February!

On Wednesday 8th January, we had an exciting time exploring ice! We talked about what ice is made of and what happens when it gets warm. We touched the ice and we used some fabulous words to describe how it felt, such as, cold, freezing, wet, icy, slippery, heavy and hard. We all looked very surprised when we touched it for the first time! Brrrrrr! Take a look at the photographs below.

On Tuesday 26th November it was our Christmas Workshop. We were amazed at how many adults came to help us and everyone had a fantastic time! We made lots of lovely pictures ready for decorating our classrooms later in the week. A huge thank you to everyone for your help!
This week we have enjoyed completing activities around the story 'The Little Red Hen!' We made some delicious white bread and thought about how unkind the animals were.
We have been thinking about Autumn this week. We have explored the school grounds looking for different signs of Autumn, as well as doing some amazing homework about the season (take a look in our Cloakroom to see how hard we've been working)! On Tuesday we made some tasty Autumn leaf biscuits and we have listened to lots of different stories about Autumn too.
