We had so much fun on our Welly Wednesday! We knew to keep ourselves safe from the sun by wearing sun hats, sunscreen, drinking plenty of water and spending some time in the shade.

*********************************

We have been learning about some of the outings and places we might visit with our families, as the weather warms and we head into Summer. Our new Larklands Ice-cream Parlour is a great place to visit at nursery!

**********************************

For Healthy Eating Week, we made delicious fruit kebabs using some tasty summer fruit.

Summer 2

This half term we will be looking for signs of Summer and the many ways it changes from Spring. We will also learn about some of the things we need to do to keep safe in the sun. The children will be exploring different summer fun days out, learning about visits to the zoo, the seaside and theme parks. We will even be having a seaside day at Nursery!

******************************

We enjoyed spending time outdoors on this sunny day.

Our first Welly Wednesday of the year!

We have had a lovely start back at Nursery this half-term.

Summer 1

This half term we will be explorers and learn about some different places, including woodlands, grassy meadows, caves and rivers.

We will be exploring our outside area using our senses by going on a sound walk. The children will also be learning about the creatures who might be living in our outside area, such as worms, ladybirds, spiders, snails, bees and butterflies.

*****************************

Look at our amazing Easter Bonnets!

***********************************

Easter Egg Hunt Fun!

************************************

The children looked wonderful dressed up in their outfits for World Book Day!

************************************

We planted our bean seeds on a paper towel bed, carefully using pipettes to make the towel wet to help our seeds to grow, before we placed them in a sunny spot. We will be watching how they grow and change.

*******************************

Messy play time!

Spring 2

This half term the children will be learning about Spring and new life. We will look for signs of Spring outside and think about the changes we have seen over time.

***************************************

********************************

We have been learning all about Winter, looking at how the weather changes and what people do to stay warm. We found out the different ways that animals survive the cold winter months. We particularly enjoyed creating our own nests for our hibernating dormice!

We have had a lovely first few weeks back at Nursery this half term! We have been enjoying learning together, sharing and taking turns. We have created our own games indoors and outdoors and have been super at developing our ideas.

Spring Term 1

This half term we will be learning about Winter and looking at changes in the weather and our natural surroundings since Autumn.

We will also be focusing on Nursery Rhymes; singing them, exploring rhyme and making our art creations based on key nursery rhymes.

**********************************

***********************************

It was very exciting exploring the ice and trying to free the animals trapped in it. We experimented with different ways of making the ice melt, using tools, the heat from our hands, sand and salt. We even explored colour, using paint on the blocks of ice.

Autumn Term 2023

Throughout the Early Years, we are thinking about;

All About Me and Celebrations!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Festive break!! See you back on Tuesday 9th January.

We have had a lovely busy term so far. We have been learning all about some special days and celebrations.

We looked amazing in our Christmas Jumpers!

We have been having a wonderful time getting ready for Christmas! Working together to decorate our Christmas Tree, making playdough Christmas puddings, taking part in Santa puppet fun and reenacting the Nativity story in the sand tray. Great job everyone!

This week we have been learning about Diwali, looking at the Diwali story and learning how it is celebrated. We created our own Diya lamps using salt dough, talking about the texture and how the dough feels before we put it in the oven. After it had dried out and cooled down we looked at how the dough had changed, before painting and decorating our Diya lamps. The all looked absolutely beautiful.

We learnt all about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. We spoke about how it is celebrated and how to keep safe. The children did some lovely observational drawings of our curiosity cube, created a Bonfire collage and completed their Bonfire pictures.

Finding out about Remembrance Day, we made our own poppy prints, created poppies using our construction toys and practised our pencil control using the colouring-in sheets.

Happy Half Term! Hope you have a restful break and we will see you back on Tuesday 7th November.

We have been doing some super learning, finding out all about Autumn in the second half of this term.

The children loved going on an Autumn Walk in our Nursery outdoors area. They looked carefully for all the signs of Autumn, ticking off what they found on their checklists.

We learnt about some of the animals that are very busy in Autumn, looking for food, such as squirrels and hedgehogs. We even made our own hedgehogs!

We went on an Autumn leaf hunt and looked at the beautiful colours. The children made some fantastic leaf men using the leaves they found.

The children learnt about how farmers harvest many fruits and vegetables in Autumn and how there are always plenty of pumpkins this time of year, ready for Halloween.

We did some observational and creative drawings of a pumpkin, then had a look at what one looked like on the inside.

We have had a fantastic first few weeks together!

The children have been very busy making new friends, working and playing together, exploring new activities, taking turns and sharing when playing.

As part of our ‘All About Me’ topic, we have been talking about the people that are special to us and have had fun creating and decorating our salt dough hearts. We then baked our very own love heart biscuits which we could decorate and eat. The children spoke about the differences between their creations!
